Obituary for Anastatia Fuller Dennis

Anastatia Fuller Huard Dennis, 97, left her earthly home, April 13, 2019 for her heavenly mansion when she passed away peacefully at Lakewood Continuing Care Center. She was born Dec. 9, 1921 in Livermore Falls, Maine, the daughter of Alton H. Fuller and Nellie (Crowley) Fuller. She was the 2nd child of 4 children: Arthur William, Eileen Virginia and Desmond Howard Fuller.
She attended high school at MCI in Pittsfield, ME. Shortly thereafter, Ann married Lawrence Huard of Winslow, ME on Jan. 3, 1942.This union brought Ann her first child, Randy Huard. Unfortunately, she became a widow in 1944 when her husband was killed during the Normandy France Invasion of WWII. Ann married again on June 5, 1948 to Sylvio J Dennis of Winslow, ME. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage and 3 more children, Cynthia and twins Joy and Jill before Sylvio’s passing in 2011.
Ann worked in many different career fields during her lifetime. In her early years, she was a highly sought-after spinner in the woolen mills. She worked for the American Woolen Mill in Pittsfield and North Vassalboro and the Cascade Woolen Mill in Oakland. She also was employed at the Hathaway Shirt Factory in Waterville and the Diamond Match Company in Oakland. Ann eventually travelled to California and found herself being sent to Santa Monica college to be trained in electronics to work for Hughes Aircraft. The knowledge she gained there also took her to AMPEX Company where she applied her training on making some of the first video tape recorders. The draw of home drew her back to New England, where she settled in Connecticut. She began work at Pratt and Whitney, again in the aerospace manufacturing industry. Shortly thereafter, Ann joined a new company, EML, Electronic Music Laboratories in Vernon, CT. She was instrumental in the design work of EML’s first electronic music synthesizer. At this time, she had the opportunity to meet many famous musicians including the Blood, Sweat and Tears Band. As Ann began to near retirement, her home state of Maine was calling her name. She eventually settled back in Winslow. She finished her working years waitressing for Ken’s Family Restaurant in Winslow and The Eating House in Fairfield.
Ann had many talents and hobbies. She was an amazing dancer. She and her husband Sylvio could be seen many weekends showing off their talents of the Jitterbug and the Viennese waltz to all who would stop and admire their dancing at the Exchange and Crescent Hotels. Ann began knitting at the age of 7 and didn’t stop until the age of 95. Over the years, she kept her family and the children of Kennebec County warm with all the mittens she made and donated. As if these talents were not enough, she was also a beautiful crocheter, seamstress, quilter and gardener. She lovingly passed many of these talents to her children and grandchildren. People all over the state have been recipients of her quilts and blankets that she lovingly gave and donated to friends, family and hospitals. Over her many years she enjoyed card games with family and friends, bowling in a league and Beano with friends. But as the years progressed, her favorite activity was her days in the sun and fresh air and enjoying her family while watching the sun set at Camp.
Ann was predeceased by her parents, Alton and Nellie Fuller; siblings, Arthur and Eileen Fuller and husbands, Lawrence Huard and Sylvio Dennis.
She is survived by her younger brother, Desmond Fuller of Plano, TX, her son Randy Huard and spouse Connie Huard of Winslow, ME, daughters Cynthia (Dennis) Nordby and spouse Wes Nordby of Minden, NV, Joy (Dennis) Roberge and spouse Scott Roberge of Vassalboro, ME and Jill
(Dennis) Vigue and spouse Rick Vigue of Winslow, ME. Ann had 8 grandchildren: Mike and Mark Huard, Kevin Arnold, Heather Beaster, Ricky Vigue, Ashley, Kylee and Nicholas Roberge; and 3 great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Huard and Malyn and Cameron Beaster . Nieces and nephews: Desmond Fuller Jr, Vicki Vanderhoof, Dottie Potts and Danny Fuller. Dear friends and extended family: Darrolyn Weston, the Denis Family and the Moyen Family.
We would like to thank the staff at Lakewood Continuing Care and Beacon Hospice for all their care and support during Ann’s final year.
Funeral arrangements by Direct Cremation of Maine.
A graveside gathering will be held at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, ME at a later date. Donations in memory of Ann can be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
Just as we at her side said with sadness “She is gone…”, the others who have gone before her exclaimed with jubilation, “Look, here she comes!”
